The Zombie Satellite Galaxy 15 of Intelsat has finally comes back to life after resetting itself last Decemebr 23,2010. According to Orbital Sciences Corporation of Virginia, Galaxy has lost contact with the flight control since April 5 due to intense solar storm.

Zombie Satellite Galaxy 15 was launched last October 13,2005 and it was originally designed to operate and keep on control until the year 2020. Even though the satellite was down for a period of time, it was still able to transmit signals through its communication center. The transmissions made by Galaxy 15 was feared to endanger nearby satellites. Intelsat has tried a number of times to shut it down but every chance failed. The zombie satellite was able to reset when its battery-powered solar panels got drained which enables it to start accepting commands from Intelsat’s control center. And after that, they have turned it to safe mode in order to stop endangering nearby satellites.
