i checked the unit yesterday at their booth at sm mall of asia and got very excited when i first saw it. i just found out about it yesterday and so when i saw it i immediately wanted to sign up for it (easier for me because i already have an existing dsl plan with pldt).

but then i found out something: it hangs. the screens of the two demo units (officially a working model because both of the units i saw were online and have wi-fi routers with them and can actually make calls) were unresponsive. at first i thought about the units power and raised it to the crew on site who also raised it to one of the supervisor there but found out that both are fully charged. really a surprise because even the sup there doesn’t know what to make of it.

“maybe it (the unit) got tired of all the demos it went through the whole day”. now, if so, that’s an eye-opener.

maybe you pldt tech-ops, software developers, data analysts should and MUST look into this lest we (both of us the users and pldt telpad) have a cloud over us.

a point that really must be considered.

Maybe the applications in the background wasn’t closed properly.
The only demo unit of the iPhone 4 here in Ayala Center Cebu’s iStore lagged and hanged, some people complain that it didn’t perform well to expectations.

But when I used the unit myself, I clicked the home button twice to see if there were applications running, and to my expectation, there were definitely ALOT of applications in the background that wasn’t closed. And so, as soon as I closed each of the apps that ran; the phone regained it’s speed and stability, and eventually, ran as smooth as butter.

I got the unit, not long after.

But anyways, my point is that maybe the applications running in the Demo units weren’t closed by the people who used it, since the Android platform is fairly new here, and not many people know how to utilize it yet. (I’ve used an android tablet with similar specifications as the TelPad and it was quite responsive to say the least.)

Sometimes, the technicians on duty in a store or event doesn’t even know how their endorsed products operate.(As with the iPhone 4) They should be briefed thoroughly since they’re the ones trying to sell the product to consumers who are new to the technology.

@keith: that maybe true. havent checked of apps were running. same goes with my n8 though it can run smoothly with 34 apps running.
